Imran Khan in action to calm down angry Aamir Liaquat

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has intervened to pacify the estranged leader and TV personality Aamir Liaquat Hussain after the later warned to take the extreme step on party ticket row.

Imran Khan, in a telephonic conversation, has invited Hussain for holding a meeting before announcing any decision in haste, adding that matter of distributing tickets will be decided in a meeting of the party’s parliamentary body, local media reported.

Khan told the angry leader that no single person is authorised to make a decision in this regard.

Whats The Issue?

Controversial TV anchor, who joined the party a few months ago, has expressed reservations against PTI’s Karachi division for not giving him party ticket to contest election from his hometown, Karachi.

Aamir Liaquat took to Twitter and alleged that PTI Karachi division president Firdous Shamim Naqvi has denied to give him ticket from his hometown.

“Firdous Shamim Naqvi said belligerent things to me which I am unable to write here keeping in view the respect of PTI chief Imran Khan,” he added.

The disgruntled leader said he considered PTI his home, and will take a decision about his political future on Monday.

He also warned the PTI workers against misbehaving with him, asking them to ‘remain in their limit’ on social media. “The issue is not just about the ticket, but Karachi city’s political awareness … I do not even desire the ticket. I only referred to it due to the [PTI] chairman’s pursuance,” he added.

A former MNA and state minister, Liaquat left the Muttahida Qaumi Movement in 2016.
