KARACHI – The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will meet on Sunday for Zil Haj moon sighting with the formal announcement to be made by chairman Mufti Muneebur Rehman.
Eidul Azha will be observed on August 22 (Wednesday), if the moon is sighted today.
In Saudi Arabia, the moon was sighted Saturday evening, with the Supreme Court of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia announcing Eidul Azha on August 21.
The Zil Haj moon in Pakistan “will be born on Saturday afternoon” and will be visible on Sunday evening, the Met stated on August 10.
The UAE is likely to observe Eid on August 22, with a five-day long weekend to be combined with the Eid holidays.
