AIOU to provide academic support to CPEC

ISLAMABAD – Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) is looking forward to providing academic support to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) through mutual collaborations with the Chinese educational institutions.

This was stated by Vice Chancellor AIOU during a meeting with Chinese academic delegation, who visited the university, a press release said on Sunday.

A six-member delegation led by Wang Yi, Vice President China’s Administration Institute visited Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) to explore the ways and means for promoting bilateral collaboration in the educational sector.

Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Shahid Siddiqui, while welcoming the visiting guest said the AIOU is in process of setting up three language and cultural institutes in Gwadar, Lahore and Islamabad.

This is a major initiative from their side for professional development of the staff, engaged in the CPEC-related projects.

The delegation showed particular interest in the areas like school management, administrative management and civil service training.

While praising the University’s country-wide academic network, Wang Yi said there are bright prospects for the two sides developing their cooperative partnership by providing training to their respective Faculty in specific areas of their interest.

Earlier, the coordinator and focal person the AIOU’s International Collaboration and Exchange office Dr Zahid Majeed gave a presentation on the academic profile of the University. Dr Samina Awan, Dean Social Sciences and other senior academic staff of the University were also present on the occasion.
