PESHAWAR – A security official sacrificed his life, securing a polio vaccination team in the Badan area of Bajaur tribal district.
The security official, a levies personnel, was returning from polio duty when unidentified gunmen opened fire.
The area was cordoned off after the attack and a search operation was launched.

With the first polio-virus case recorded in KPK in over a year, officials involved in the anti-polio campaigns have decided to further focus their activities to get rid of the crippling virus.
In 2017, eight polio cases were reported from Sindh. However, so far no polio cases surfaced in the province in 2018.
Pakistan is one of only three countries in the world, along with Afghanistan and Nigeria that suffers from endemic polio, a childhood virus that can cause paralysis or death.
