LHC strictly bans sale of tobacco products in educational institutes

LAHORE – The Lahore High Court (LHC) ordered on Thursday to ban the sale of all tobacco products in educational institutes across Punjab.

While hearing a petition regarding the smoking ban, Justice Ali Akbar Qureshi remarked that smoking has been banned in public educational institutions and requested teachers not to smoke during duty hours.

The counsel for the petitioner had stated that smoking at educational institutions leaves a bad impact on the health of students. The petition had further said that smoking at educational institutions was transitioning into drug addiction.

Moreover, Justice Qureshi ordered the provincial government to take strict measures to enforce the orders of the provisional court.
