ISLAMABAD – National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Thursday filed a reference against former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of National Testing Service (NTS), Haroon Rashid and others for their alleged involvement in maladministration and financial irregularities and causing a loss of more than Rs158 million to the organization.
The other accused are former Additional Director NTS, Tahir Maqbool Khakwani, former Company Sectary Waqar Sami, former Additional Director (Ops) NTS, Faiz Ul Akbar, Kamil Ahmad, former Regional Head, M Javaid, Dy Director NTS, Yaqoob Jan and former Regional Head of National Testing Service, Imran Khan.
As per details issued here, some unscrupulous elements in the top management of Nation Testing Service has been found involved in corruption and corrupt practices and were intentionally playing with future of candidates.
The accused persons in connivance with Chief Executive Officer Haroon Rashid had recruited fake consultants through regional heads for misappropriating/embezzling huge chunks of amounts from NTS funds and used these amounts for personal gains/benefits.
The accused with his accomplices manipulated payments of false claims of factitious consultancy through bank cheques and proceeds of these cheques were received in cash by the accused persons for their personal uses.
During the course of the inquiry, it was revealed that the accused in connivance with other accomplices manipulated payment of false claims through cheques issued in name of false consultants.
After the realization of proceeds of cheques, in an account of the above said false consultants, the part of
an amount in question was received back by him in cash through respective regional heads.
Director General NAB Rawalpindi, Irfan Naeem Mangi has said NAB hopes joint efforts can collaborate to check corruption and corrupt practices before happening with help of all stakeholders.
