LAHORE – The Punjab government officially launched the new academic year in public schools across the province today (April 1), with reports indicating shorter summer holidays this year.
Officials announced that approximately 30 million free textbooks will be distributed to students during the current academic year.
Students from grades one to three will receive 100% of their textbooks free of cost, while students in grades four and five will receive 80% of their books.
Those in grades six through nine will be provided with 50% of textbooks, and grade ten students will receive all required books.
Additional students will have access to textbooks through the school book bank system to ensure no one faces a shortage.
Authorities also indicated a potential reduction in commercial electricity tariffs for public schools, aiming to lower operational costs and provide financial relief to educational institutions across Punjab.
