ISTANBUL – An armed man has locked himself at a psychiatric hospital in Istanbul, according to reports in Turkish media.
Officers are said to be negotiating with the man who has threatened to kill himself after locking himself into a room. Patients and staff have been evacuated from Cerahpasa hospital.
The incident comes amid tension in the Turkish city following several attacks in crowded areas, including the deadly assault on the Reina nightclub on New Year’s Eve which left 39 people dead.
