LAHORE – Punjab government is going to announce “good news” for Lahorities, who have been waiting a long time to celebrate Basant since long, as a senior journalist has claimed that the festival will be celebrated this year.
As per reports, a TV host Munizae Jehangir shared a message on Twitter, claiming that Punjab government spokesperson Malik Ahmad has said, “It is the CM’s resolve to celebrate basant this year”.

She said that Ahmad has revealed this plan in the latest episode of her programme, Spot Light, which will be aired tonight at 10pm.
Basant festival is celebrated by people traditionally by flying kites in Lahore, who celebrate the onset of Spring season.
In 2005, the Supreme Court had banned the spring festival over deaths caused by the use of sharp and glass coated strings. Several petitions challenging the ban were dismissed by the court.
