PM Nawaz vows action against officials responsible for Karachi deaths

KARACHI (APP) – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday said deaths in Karachi due to severe heatwave was unprecedented in the country’s history and stressed that all departments who shirked their responsibilities must be held accountable.

Chairing a meeting here at the Chief Minister House on recent intense heatwave in Karachi and the resulting casualties, the Prime Minister said the irresponsibility of departments had added to public misery.

The Prime Minister expressed deep sorrow over the casualties and said the whole country shared sympathy with the affected people in this hour of grief.

Chief Minister Sindh, Syed Qaim Ali Shah thanked the Prime Minister for taking personal interest in matters of the Sindh province, particularly of Karachi city.

He briefed the Prime Minister on the emergency situation that hit the metropolitan city causing hundreds of casualties and the relief and remedial measures taken by the provincial government. The Prime Minister was informed that more than 65,000 patients were reported in Karachi hospitals during this period out of which about 1,250 lost their lives.

Baloch; State Minister for Health, Saira Afzal Tarar and the Chairman NDMA along with members of the Sindh cabinet.
