PTI lists Ayaz Amir in nominations for caretaker CM Punjab
LAHORE - It seems that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf is on a spree of U-turns as it has added the name of famous news analyst Ayaz Amir besides columnist Orya Maqbool Jan in fresh nominations for the slot of the caretaker chief minister of Punjab.

The development came hardly half an hour after Mian Mehmood ur Rasheed, the former Leader of the Opposition in the Punjab Assembly, pitched the name of industrialist Yaqoob Tahir Izhar besides former bureaucrat Orya Maqbool Jan.

The fresh nominations were announced by former Leader of the Opposition in the Punjab Assembly, Mian Mehmood ur Rasheed, on Friday, however, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insafspokespersonn Fawad Chaudhry tweeted three names for the said slot:  Hassan Askari, Ayaz Amir and Yaqub Izhar.

Ayaz Amir has served as a legislator through the platform of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz and appears in a TV show, while Yaqoob Tahir Izhar is among the board of directors of Izhar group of companies.

Earlier, the PTI leader held a meeting with former Speaker Punjab Assembly, Rana Muhammad Iqbal, following which he revealed the names to newsmen.

In a brief interaction with journalists, Rasheed expressed that the government has alluded to accepting one of the names for the top slot of the province.

"I would meet with former Speaker Punjab Assembly on Sunday, wherein a breakthrough is expected in this regard," added Rasheed and reiterated that the names of Nasir Durrani and Hassan Askari Rizvi were proposed by the party leadership.

Earlier on Thursday, the former opposition party put forth names of Nasir Durrani and Hassan Askari Rizvi for the said post, though the former excused himself from assuming the charge.

Nasir Durrani has served as the Inspector General Police (IGP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa while Hassan Askari Rizvi is a famed economist and political analyst, who regularly shows up in television programmes.

Additionally, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf withdrew its nomination of Nasir Khosa for the top post of the province on Wednesday, citing the decision was taken in haste.

The leader of the Opposition in the Punjab Assembly, Mian Mehmood ur Rasheed had expressed that the decision was taken back due to the comments posted against Khosa on the social media.

In a TV show, the politician claimed that the name was originally put forth by party chief, Imran Khan, admitting that the party should have shown maturity in nominating the former bureaucrat.

Orya Maqbool Jan Still In The List

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf is confusing political analyst and media over a span of few hours as initially, it pitched the name of Orya Maqbool Jan for the interim CM of Punjab.

The name was apparently withdrawn after Fawad Chaudhry, party's spokesperson, tweeted that the party had proposed three names, skipping the name of Orya.

However, Mian Mehmood ur Rasheed revealed in a TV show that Orya Maqbool's name was still in the nominations and thus four names were suggested by the party.

'Orya's name was proposed directly by PTI chief Imran Khan,' claimed Mian Mehmood ur Rasheed.
