Massive Traffic jam on Lahore s Canal Road owing to PM Imran s visit

LAHORE – The people of Lahore suffered huge traffic jam as a major road of the city was closed for traffic owing to the movement of Prime Minister Imran Khan’s carcade on Friday night.

The Canal Road, which leads to almost Lahore’s major areas and, exit, entry points of the city, was cordoned off by the security forces as Khan reached Lahore on his first official visit as prime minister of the country.

A larger number of commuters had to face a lot of inconveniences as they remained stuck for hours, some of them with their families, in the warm weather condition.

Videos captured by the citizens show long queues of motorcycles, cars and buses on the Canal Road near the Zaman Park where the residence of the PM Imran is located.

Some young commuter also had an altercation with a traffic police officer, performing duty for the VIP movement. The people asked him to open the road, to which, he apologised to do the same, saying: “he is following the orders”.

It can be heard in the video that a motorcyclist, who lost his temperament due to the massive traffic jam, started abusing the PTI government and questioned, “Is it the Naya Pakistan promised by Imran Khan”.

As the videos of the traffic mess were shared on the social media, PTI supporters have to go into defence position after the users slam the blockade of the road which created troubles for the common people.

As per the schedule, PM Khan will hold key meetings with Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar and other party leaders. He will address the newly formed Punjab cabinet today (Saturday).
