Petitions filed in ECP, Punjab Assembly to disqualify Imran Khan over sexual harassment allegations

ISLAMABAD – Raja Basharat Mehmood on Wednesday filed an application before the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), calling for the disqualification of PTI chief Imran Khan over allegations of harassment levelled against him by MNA Ayesha Gulalai.

He requested the ECP to de-notify the chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf from NA-56, Rawalpindi-VII, as the party’s chairman and member of the National Assembly should bear a good character.

PML-N’s Hina Pervaiz Butt, also on Wednesday, submitted a resolution in the Punjab Assembly for Imran Khan’s disqualification on the basis of Article 62 and 63 over Gulalai’s allegations.

In Balochistan Assembly, Shahida Rauf submitted a resolution condemning the PTI chief.  “Imran Khan’s cheap and immoral acts hurt prestige and honour of women,” it read.

“The PTI chief should be tried over Gulalai’s allegations and disqualified from parliament.”

Ayesha Gulalai had claimed in a press conference a day earlier that she had received several inappropriate messages from PTI chairman Imran Khan.

Gulalai announced that she had parted ways with PTI since Imran Khan’s attitude with party workers was quite insulting and that there was no respect for female workers or leaders in the party.
