CM Balochistan orders inquiry into Gadani tragedy

QUETTA – Chief Minister Balochistan Nawab Sanaullah Khan Zehri took serious notice of Gadani Ship Breaking Yard explosion on Tuesday and directed authorities concerned to submit report to him on priority.

He ordered to provide all available health care to the injured. Officials said chief minister was grieved over loss of lives in explosion at a ship at Gadani Ship Breaking Yard.

“The chief minister ordered to rescue injured labourers, shift them to hospital in Karachi and provide them with all available medical care,” they said.

At least eleven people were killed and over 50 others injured on Tuesday when a blast occurred in an oil tanker at Gadani ship-breaking yard.

A Huge explosion took place in an oil tanker when dozens of labourers were working at the ship-breaking yard.

According to media reports, the Deputy superintendent police Hub confirmed the death toll and added that workers said over 100 people were working on the ship at the time.

Reports said six of the workers died on the spot while more than 30 others suffered burn injuries.

Rescue teams from Karachi and Hub area of Balochistan rushed to the scene and shifted the injured to hospital. Fire fighters were also called to extinguish the blaze.
