ISLAMABAD (Staff Report) – The Senate Standing Committee on Finance was informed on Friday that fake currency notes were used in country this Eid-ul-Azha.
It was disclosed by committee’s head Senator Saleem Mandiwala during a session in Parliament House that banks had issued fake currency bills on the occasion of Eid.
The claim of Mandiwala was further endorsed by PML-Q’s Senator Kamil Ali Agha who named a private which issued fake currency notes to consumers.
Responding to the claims the representative of State Bank of Pakistan said that every currency notes is duly checked be release. The Bank further told committee that it has been in process to purchase more currency verification machines.
The committee directed the SBP that by 2017 a verification machine should be installed at every branch of the banks.
