Kuala Lumpur – Two women, accused of assassinating the half-brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un plead not guilty, at the start of a high-profile murder trial in Malaysian court on Monday. The women were suspected of murdering the estranged half-brother with a banned nerve agent.
Indonesian Siti Aisyah and Vietnamese Doan Thi Huong of age 25 and 28 respectively, were charged with the murder of Kim Jon Nam by smearing his face with poisonous agent VX, at Kuala Lumpur International airport on 13th Feb.
The two women denied the charges and said they thought that they were participating in a prank for a reality TV show. They accused the North Korean agents for tricking them. However, the prosecution accused the two women along with four North Koreans to be equally guilty.
Mr. Kim was in his mid-forties, and was estranged elder half-brother to the North Korean young leader. At the time of his death he was living in self-imposed exile in Macau, China.
Police have named four North Koreans as major suspects in the case, who remain at large. However, an Interpol red notice, an International alert, has been issued to locate the whereabouts of the suspects.
