25 Indian MPs suspended for disrupting parliament session

NEW DELHI (Staff Report) – Indian Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan on Monday suspended as many as 25 members of Indian National Congress for five days over disrupting the functioning of house, reported Indian media.

The step was taken following protest of opposition MPs against alleged involvement of Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj in issuance of UK visa to former Indian Premier League (IPL) chief Lalit Modi who was removed from his position over the charges of corruption.

Sushma, on the other hand, has dimissed the charged leveled against her saying that she never requested British officials to issue visa to former IPL head.

Earlier the Rajya Sabha was also adjourned after exchange of heated remarks during the speech of foreign minister.
