UAE has the world’s most powerful passport

ABU DHABI – The passport from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has ranked the strongest in the world, according to the Passport Index.

The Passport Index is the world’s most popular online interactive tool, which collects, displays and ranks the passports of the world.

The UAE travel document now has a visa-free score of 167. Of these, UAE passport holders can enter 113 countries visa-free, while 54 countries will welcome them with a visa on arrival. Emiratis, however, still need visas to enter 31 countries on the globe.

In second place is Singapore, followed by Germany.

It was only last month that the UAE passport had claimed the third spot in the rankings.

In November, in its blog titled “UAE to Become The World’s Most Powerful Passport?”, the Passport Index had said: “The United Arab Emirates’ positive diplomacy, focus, and determination helped boost its passport power.”

“More and more countries are placing an importance on the power of their passports, and how freely their citizens can travel across the globe,” said Armand Arton, president of Arton Capital, the inventors of Passport Index.

“The success of UAE’s initiative has become a testament to other nations, that any vision can manifest with the power of positive diplomacy,” added Arton.

UAE’s achievement coincides with the country’s 47th National Day.

Pakistan’s passport continues to be ranked among the lowest coming in at 92 with visa-free travel to only eight and visa on arrival to 27. Iraq and Afghanistan are the two countries which rank lower than Pakistan.
