Police arrest prime suspect who allegedly paraded naked minor girl in Peshawar

PESHAWAR - Police on Sunday arrested the prime suspect involved allegedly in stripping naked a minor girl over a dispute.

The suspect was arrested from Mardan, police said.

Earlier, a minor girl was reportedly stripped in public in the capital city of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa over a dispute between her brother and another local.

The 16-year-old's brother Zafar, got into a squabble on Saturday with Mazhar in Hashtnagri area of Peshawar.

Zafar's mother Shakila Bibi then approached Gulfat Hussain Shaheed Police Station to report the quarrel between the two, however, the move turned worse.

According to police, Mazhar (accused) intercepted girl on her way back home from her uncle's house however, the law enforcers are still not sure whether the girl was stripped or not.

According to Station House Officer (SHO) Wahid Khan, area residents came to the rescue of girl after they saw what was happening following which the victim left the scene.

The Police said they have registered a First Information Report (FIR) and arrested two relatives of Mazhar.

"Raids are under way and the principle accused will be arrested soon," the SHO added.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) of KP Salahuddin Mehsud has also taken notice of the incident.

The girl's family alleged that the accused were trying to  pressurize them to settle the matter.
