UK newspaper denies link to fake news that defamed Hadiqa Kiani

LONDON – Associated Newspapers on Thursday denied its links with the fake news that reported that the Pakistani singing star Hadiqa Kiani was arrested at London’s Heathrow Airport for trying to smuggle two kilograms of cocaine into the UK, Geo News reported.

Only a few people knew that the Metro-UK is a hoax website while the vast majority fell for the fake news and some TV channels and newspapers in Pakistan ran this as breaking news, causing distress and defamation to the singer.

However, publishers of the genuine Metro UK have stated that it has no connection whatsoever with the website that defamed Hadiqa Kiani and doesn’t carry the responsibility for the content published on the fake website.

Earlier, singer Hadiqa Kiani filed a defamation suit against British website ‘Metro UK’ over fake cocaine smuggling news against her.

She said that the website has damaged her reputation and of the country.
