First Sikh officer of Pakistan Army ties the knot

RAWALPINDI – Major Hercharn Singh, first Sikh officer of Pakistan Army, on Sunday tied the knot at Gurdwara Puja Sahib, Hasan Abdal, said the military’s media wing.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) statement, the ceremony was attended by a number of serving and retired officers of the army.

In his message, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa also extended his good wishes to the Sikh officer on his marriage.

The statement added Maj Harcharn Singh was commissioned in Pakistan Army in 2007, the statement said.

Pak Army remains a symbol of national integration and respects rights of religious minorities in Pakistan, it added.
