LAHORE – Chief Minister Punjab Shehbaz Sharif suspended Medical Superintendent Jinnah Hospital Lahore, Zafar Yousaf here on Wednesday.
The decision came days after a woman died in the hospital reportedly as she wasn’t provided a bed in the hospital. The patient was offered to be treated on the floor instead, and was injected with a drip to start medication, in chilly weather.
She was not properly treated due to unavailability of beds, and subsequently passed away.
Shehbaz Sharif presided over a meeting and discussed the report about the investigations into the death of woman in Jinnah Hospital.
During the meeting, he ordered suspension of MS besides advising stern action against doctors, nurses and other staff involved in this unfortunate incident.

He expressed grief over the death of the 65-year-old woman under such unfortunate circumstances.
“I will tolerate no negligence regarding the treatment of patients,” he vowed categorically.
The meeting was attended by Advisor to Punjab CM on Health Salman Rafique and other officials.
