LAHORE (Staff Report) – Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Chief Imran Khan has cancelled public meeting which was scheduled to be held on May 8 in Faisalabad in wake of indecent behaviour with women workers after Lahore rally.
“We will ensure exemplary punishment for those who harassed women at the rally” said Imran Khan in a statement issued by Party Spokesperson. He announced that PTI would organize rallies in Peshawar on May 9 and in Bannu on May 11.
“We can not trust on Punjab police with rally’s security anymore”, spokesman said. He said that the women participants remained safe and sound during 126-day long sit-in at D-Chowk.
“It was only on the Mall in Lahore that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) ‘goons’ behaved indecently with women during PTI’s rally”, he alleged.
It should be noted here that Imran Khan is going to address a rally in Bannu after Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif delivered a rather aggressive speech there this week.
On the other hand, sources in PTI said that Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf postponed the rally in Faisalabad due to internal rifts.
The party was criticised by media commentators due to mismanagement at rallies held in Islamabad and Lahore on April 22 and May 1 respectively. Women were allegedly harassed and thrashed by several youngsters during both public gatherings.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan has also ordered an extensive inquiry into such incidents, saying that all those responsible, not matter if they belonged to PTI or not, will be identified and charged.
