Shameless people ruling Pakistan, all they see is dollars: Imran Khan

ISLAMABAD (Staff Report) – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman Imran Khan has said that shameless people have been ruling Pakistan, who have no dignity or self-respect and that is the reason they have allowed Americans to bomb their own country for many times.

In an interview with RT TV, the cricketer-turned-politician said that Pakistani government doesn’t care what is happening to its people but only thing they see is dollars, while commenting about the silence of Pakistani rulers at alleged civilian killings in US drone strikes in Pak-Afghan bordering areas.

He went on to say that Pakistani government only cares about the USAID and if they were being paid enough dollars they are willing to allow America to target their own country.

However in reality, the collateral damage of US drone attacks has been breeding new terrorists and human bombs, who blow themselves up, he further added.

On the occasion he also quoted story of a young Pakistani student who belonged to Pakistan’s tribal region and was studying at a technical college in Mianwali.

“The boy was informed that his native house was targeted by a US drone in Waziristan, he went back where his family was killed and after some six month we came to know that he had blown himself up in Afghanistan to target a NATO convoy,” Imran Khan narrated the story of a drone attacks victim.

When asked to comment about the possibility of enduring peace in Afghanistan, he said that Pakistan is hopeful of a political settlement in Afghanistan as anything that happens in Afghanistan directly affects Pakistan. However US drone attacks are a major obstacle to peace, he added.

It is also pertinent to be mentioned here that US drone strikes operation is directly managed by America’s Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), which is not liable to any inquiry at United States land.

Since 2004, over 2400 people have been killed in drone strikes in Pakistan alone, while only 84 of them were confirmed as al-Qaeda associates.

A report of London-based Bureau of Investigative Journalism claimed that at least 400 civilians including children were killed in US drone attacks in Pakistan. The bureau had also published a list of these civilians in 2014.
