Pakistan slips to 9th position in ICC ODI ranking, 7th in T20I list

DUBAI (Staff Report) – Pakistan have dropped to ninth position position in latest ODI ranking while they have retained seventh in T20I raking, the International Cricket Council said on Wednesday.

According to the announcement, ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 finalists Australia and New Zealand have retained the top two positions on ICC ODI Team Rankings in the annual update.

South Africa have swapped places with India to move into third position, while the West Indies have exchanged places with Pakistan to gain the eighth position.

Other sides to gain include sixth-ranked England (103, up two), seventh-ranked Bangladesh (98, up one), eighth-ranked West Indies (88, up two), 10th-ranked Afghanistan (51, up four) and 11th-ranked Zimbabwe (47, up two).

ICC T20I Ranking:

In the T20I update, ICC World T20 2016 semi-finalist New Zealand have stormed up the chart to claim number-one position for the first time. India are ranked second in the list.

ICC World Twenty20 2016 champion West Indies have slipped to third, ahead of fourth-ranked South Africa, fifth-ranked England, sixth-ranked Australia, seventh-ranked Pakistan, eighth-ranked Sri Lanka, ninth-ranked Afghanistan and tenth-ranked Bangladesh.

It is also pertinent to be mentioned here that host England and the seven next highest-ranked sides on the ICC ODI Raking on September 30, 2017 will qualify directly for cricket’s biggest event, while the bottom four ODI ranked sides will join the top sides from the ICC World Cricket League in the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier 2018 to fight for the two remaining positions.
