COAS leaves on four-day visit to Sri Lanka

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif on Friday departed for Colombo on an official visit to Sri Lanka.

General Raheel Sharif to Sri Lanka is making his first ever visit to the island nation, on the invitation of his Sri Lankan counterpart Lieutenant General AWJ Crishanthe De Silva.

The COAS is expected to meet the President of Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.

His visit will provide both sides with an opportunity to review ongoing cooperation and collaboration, and discuss ways to further broaden and deepen the relationship.

Earlier General Raheel Sharif had cancelled his visit to Sri Lanka, following the attack on a bus carrying members of Ismaili community in Karachi.
