LAHORE – Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday departed for United Kingdom, according to media reports.
The chief minister will spend three days in London where he will inquire into the health of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s wife, and his sister-in-law, Kulsoom Nawaz.

Kulsoom, who recently underwent a surgery for lymphoma (throat cancer), is currently residing at her son Hasan’s residence in the British capital. Doctors will decide this week when she may be able to return to Pakistan.
Shehbaz Sharif will also meet the leadership of London chapter of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).
Nawaz Sharif, who went to London to tend to his ailing wife last week, is likely to return to the country by September 10.
Kulsoom left for London unexpectedly on August 17 for a medical checkup – on the day when her nomination papers for the NA-120 constituency were accepted amid political hype.
During Kulsoom’s absence, Maryam is running her by-election campaign.

The seat fell vacant following the disqualification of Nawaz Sharif by the Supreme Court on July 28 in landmark Panama Papers case judgment.
