LAHORE – Former Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Saqib Nisar returned to Pakistan from London and rejected propaganda unleashed against him on social media.
The ex-top judge reached Lahore last night as per his announcement regarding returning to Pakistan in September.
In a brief talk with media, he said: “I have reached Pakistan. Allegations leveled against him are baseless and will not respond to them”.
In his absence last month, flurry of social media news claimed that he had fled abroad to avoid inquiry after former ISI chief Lt Gen (retd) Faiz Hameed was taken into military custody.
The former top judge had rejected the speculations and said he would return to Pakistan in September. He had also played down his relationship with incarcerated Faiz Hameed, saying the ex-spymaster was “very respectable” towards him.
The ex-CJP had also expressed disappointment over his “media trial,” stating that he should be brought to justice if there are any allegations against him.
