Avicii Album to be released a year after his death

NEW YORK- Nearly a year after Avicii’s death, the music that he was working on before his untimely passing is getting released. The Swedish producer’s family and collaborators have revealed in an interview with the New York Times that his first posthumous album will arrive this summer.

At the time of Avicii’s death on 20 April 2018, the musician – real name Tim Bergling – had almost completed a new album, according to a statement released by his family on Friday.

Avicii was found dead at the age of 28 during a vacation in Muscat. While refusing to go into detail, the Bergling family acknowledged it was a suicide in a US-based publication.

The single, titled ‘SOS’ comes out April 20. The album “Tim” will be released June 6.

“He really struggled with thoughts about Meaning, Life, Happiness,” Avicii’s family said last year in a statement after his death. “He could not go on any longer. He wanted to find peace.”

“Tim was not made for the business machine he found himself in,” the statement continued. “He was a sensitive guy who loved his fans but shunned the spotlight.”

Now those fans will get one last listen to the EDM star’s music.

Revenue from the posthumous album will be donated to the Tim Bergling Foundation, which works towards providing mental health services and suicide prevention. The foundation also actively participated in climate change, nature conservation and protecting endangered species.
