PTI concedes defeat in Karachi LB polls

KARACHI (Staff Report) – With Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) having won majority seats in Karachi local bodies elections held on Saturday, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has conceded the defeat.

PTI contested the polls in alliance with Jamaat-e-Islami (JI).

In a twitter post PTI lawmaker Dr Arif Alvi said that “MQM has won a large number of UCs in Karachi. I congratulate them on this victory.”

According to unofficial and unconfirmed results MQM has bagged more than 50% seats in Karachi’s six districts while the PTI-JI alliance is far behind independent candidates and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP).
