LAHORE – Two women received a beating by shopkeepers in Batapur area of Punjab capital area after being accused of stealing from a garments store.
A video making rounds on social media shows the shopkeepers hitting the women with a large cane and then slapping and kicking them.
One of the men has been identified as Chaudhry Ejaz Manawan, the owner of the shop, and head of the Kabbadi Association.
Manawan told the media that both the women stole a bundle of clothes worth over Rs10,000 from his shop.
The other man in the video has claimed the women also stole bed sheets from his shop in the same area.
Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar has taken notice of the incident, summoning a report from the inspector general of Punjab.
