Nisar terms India as biggest hurdle to regional peace
ISLAMABAD - Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Friday termed India the biggest hurdle in the way of regional peace.

Talking to a three-member delegation of British and European parliaments here, he regretted that despite Pakistan's invaluable sacrifice for global and regional peace, it was slammed by some elements setting aside ground realities.

He said that besides those having sketchy information and playing into the hands of others, the critics also included those whose hands were stained with the blood of oppressed people who were a stumbling block in the way of sustained peace in the region, in a veiled reference to India.

The minister suggested that the international community should open-heartedly listen to Pakistan’s viewpoint and also understand it in its true perspective.

He appreciated the role of UK for peace in the region.

'United Kingdom was among the few countries where Pakistan’s point of view was heard and largely understood' he said.

The participants also discussed Pakistan-UK ties, ongoing cooperation in various areas, bilateral parliamentary affairs and the situation in the region with a special focus on dismal situation in restive region of Kashmir.

The delegation members lauded the services of interior minister and pointed out that his efforts were also admired abroad, especially by the Pakistani community.

They said that the minister strived hard for elemination of terrorism in the country.

The delegation also praised his efforts for resolving the issues faced by Pakistani expatriates especially relating to passports and CNICs.
