LAHORE- Yesterday was a big day in Pakistan’s democratic history. The former Prime Minister of Pakistan ‘Nawaz Sharif’ was sentenced to 10 years in jail for 10 years. Sharif’s daughter Maryam has also been sentenced to seven years in the Avenfield corruption case. Her husband, Retired Captain Safdar has also been sentenced to one year in jail.

All eyes across Pakistan were glued to TV screens as Judge Muhammad Bashir of the accountability court read out the 100-page verdict. The decision was pending since morning and at last the NAB officials declared the verdict at 4:20 pm.
