Captain Zarghaam: Pakistan bids farewell to hero officer who died trying to defuse roadside bomb

PESHAWAR – The funeral prayers of Captain Zarghaam, who embraced martyrdom while neutralising an IED detected in Mohmand District of Pakistan’s tribal areas, was held at Peshawar Cantt on Wednesday.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Shah Farman, Corps Commander IGFC KP Lt-Gen Shaheen Mazhar Mehmood, DG ISPR Major General Asif Ghafoor, provincial ministers and a number of other civil military officials attended the funeral prayers.

After the funeral, the martyr’s body was dispatched to his ancestral towns for burial with full military honour.

According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Capt Zarghaam Fareed embraced martyrdom and Sepoy Rehan of BD team got critically injured while disarming an improvised explosive device (IED).

The 25-year-old officer was unmarried and belonged to Sargodha district of Punjab.

Yesterday, a Pakistan Army soldier embraced martyrdom while another sustained injuries in an Improvised Explosive Device blast in Tang Killay of Dattakhel tehsil of North Waziristan tribal district.

Mohammad Tahir lost his life on the spot in Monday’s blast while Naik Mohammad Khan was shifted to Dattakhel hospital with injuries.
