ISLAMABAD (APP) – President Mamnoon Hussain has said that the Chinese and Pakistani leadership is committed to timely completion of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects.
Talking to a Chinese delegation in Islamabad he said this is a win-win scenario for both countries as it would benefit not only the two countries but also the whole region.
The President said the revival of the Silk Road through CPEC is an important development.
He emphasized strengthening of cultural ties and people to people contacts between the two countries.
Mamnoon Hussain appreciated the initiative taken by Pakistan China Institute with its Chinese partners to build a cultural corridor as well as an information corridor to support and supplement the CPEC.
Later talking to Director UNAIDS Steven Kraus the President said the government gives high priority to prevention and control of HIV/AIDS in the country.
He said the National AIDS Control Programme enjoys political support at the highest level.
He commended the efforts for eradication of HIV virus and expressed his gratitude to United Nations for undertaking this noble work for the good of humanity.
Steven Kraus lauded Pakistan’s efforts for initiating community based testing of HIV/AIDS for treatment and prevention of the fatal disease.
During a briefing on medium and long term Flood Protection Projects in Islamabad the President urged the need of strengthening monitoring system to minimize flood losses in the country.
He said close coordination should be maintained between the centre and the provinces to prevent violation of flood safety measures.
