War is not an option, Shabana Azmi wishes better Indo-Pak ties

MUMBAI – Bollywood’s popular actress of 1980’s and acclaimed Indian writer  Javed Akhtar’s wife Shabana Azmi feels that war between India and Pakistan should not happen, and is not an option.

The actress wrote on her social media account that, “The relationship between the citizens of Pakistan and India needs to remain interactive. We need to converse and exchange ideas and thoughts”.

“War is not an option, discussions, and talks are needed to solve the disputes between the countries,” Shabana said during an interactive session Baithak, organized by News18 on Tuesday.

She also suggested to organize a student exchange and cultural exchange programs as they will help in understanding the people and their beliefs more.

The Masoom movie actor went on to add, “During cricket match between Pakistan and India, people start behaving like rivals and discriminate against each other. So, that time film is the medium through which the feeling of love can be generated among the people of India and Pakistan through artists’ performances.”

“More films should be made through which message of love and peace is imparted, and there should be a joint collaboration between the nations,” she wished for.

Taapsee Pannu, whose film Mulk was called out for being ‘pro-Muslim’, hopes for a release in Pakistan. Taapsee said, “In India, people called me anti-national for my performance in ‘Mulk’, but after the release of the film, people appreciated me. I am a proud Indian and it is a proud Indian film.”

We also wish to have close- friendly relations with Neighbouring country India. It will be beneficiary for both the states and will help in boosting the economy also by doing trade across borders.
