LAHORE – The Lahore High Court on Wednesday rejected the petition of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Usman Dar, who had sought a recount in NA-73 constituency.
Justice Mamoonur Rashid rejected the plea of Dar who lost to former foreign minister, Khawaja Asif for a National Assembly seat through Sialkot’s constituency.
Advocate Anees Hashmi and Advocate Tajamul Gondal had challenged the victory of Asif pleading that the returning officer did not provide Form-45 to the polling agents.
The young PTI leader contended that as many as 7,346 votes were rejected in his constituency and he lost to the PML-N leader by a thin margin of 1,406 votes.

Khawaja Asif had secured 117002 votes against Dar’s 115,596 in the July 25 polls.
Usman Dar and Khawaja Asif had been entangled in legal tussle ever since the 2013 polls. The PTI leader had petitioned the Supreme Court seeking an inquiry into the results, however, the top court rejected his plea.
Dar then moved to the Islamabad High Court and contended that the PML-N leader had not mentioned his foreign work permit in his nomination papers; Asif was subsequently disqualified as a lawmaker.
However, Asif moved the apex court and got a decision in his favor, following which he contested the elections and defeated Usman Dar.
