KARACHI – A robbery case has been registered after more than Rs6.5 million was allegedly stolen from an Edhi Centre in Karachi’s Sohrab Goth area.
According to the complaint filed by Edhi employee Mazhar Abbas, four armed men arrived on two motorcycles and followed the employees after they withdrew the cash from a private bank. The suspects allegedly entered the centre, took the money and escaped.
The incident occurred at around 4pm on Friday, according to the FIR. Three suspects entered the premises while another remained outside.
Edhi Home administration said the cash had been brought from a private bank for distribution as employees’ salaries.
Police officials reached the scene after receiving information about the robbery. Investigators are recording eyewitness statements and obtaining CCTV footage as efforts continue to identify and arrest the suspects.
Sindh Chief Minister has also sought a report from the Inspector General of Police and directed authorities to trace the suspects.
