ISLAMABAD (Staff Report) – The National Assembly Standing Committee on Railways was Friday informed that the Business Train will resume its operations by end of this month after necessary up-gradation.
The committee meeting was held under the chair of Syed Naveed Qamar.
Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafiq has said the court had decided the case in favour of Pakistan Railways and the now suspended train would restore its operations between Lahore and Karachi.
The minister also briefed the committee about the development projects of Railways Ministry and said they have signed an agreement with an American firm for procurement of 55 locomotives of above 4,000 horse power.
The meeting was informed that the tendering process for purchase of another 20 locomotives was underway.
The minister also apprised the NA body on the cases pending with the National Accountability Bureau and sought committee’s help for resolution of Royal Palm case sub judice with the apex court.
