Collective effort needed to smash out terrorism, says COAS Gen Bajwa

RAWALPINDI – Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa said on Thursday that terrorism was a menace that required a collective response.

According to a statement issued by military’s media wing, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Qamar Javed Bajwa visited the training centre of the army’s elite commando unit — Special Services Group (SSG) — at Tarbela.

The army chief witnessed the completion of an eight-week-long counter-terrorism training course of a special forces battalion of the Nigerian Army. The Nigerian contingent comprised 440 trainees, including 26 officers.

The military head lauded the standard of training imparted at the SSG centre, as well as the results attained by the trainee contingent.

“Pakistan Army has a vast experience of counter-terrorism (CT) operations as well as modern training facilities and is happy to play a part in enabling CT response of multiple friendly countries,” said Gen Bajwa, according to a statement by the Inter-Services Public Relations.
