2 corpses found in Mexico 55 years after climbers go missing
MEXICO CITY (Web Desk) – Two creepy mummified corpses have been discovered buried in the snow on a mountain in Mexico - 55 years after a group of local climbers went missing after an avalanche.

A skull was found on Monday 1,000 feet from the peak of Pico de Orizaba - Mexico's highest mountain - and a second gruesome discovery has just been made, nearby.

The frozen body, with clenched fists and a seemingly terrified expression, could be one of seven Mexicans who disappeared after an avalanche struck more than half a century ago, according to local officials.

However hopeful families from as far away as Spain and Germany have contacted the town to see if the bodies could belong to their long-lost relatives.

The first remains were found by climbers and then 12 local civil protection mountaineers discovered the second body.

Juan Navarro, the mayor the nearest town, Chalchicomula de Sesma, said that clothing found on the mummies will help identify them.

But due to bad weather conditions the bodies have not been able to be removed from the mountainside.

Mr Navarro said: "It was impossible to conduct the rescue this time. Fog prevented the work".

Once the bodies have been removed they will be taken to the Puebla state prosecutor's office to undergo DNA identification tests.
