KARACHI (Web Desk) – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Faisal Vawda who was arrested yesterday by police for holding an ‘unlawful’ rally on Shahrah-e-Faisal in metropolis has been granted bail by the court on Thursday.
Malir’s Judicial Magistrate Court approved Faisal Vawda’s bail plea against the bond of Rs. 30,000 although its not confirmed whether he has been set free or not.
The PTI leader was brought to the court from Airport police station today after being detained by the police. Vawda caused much ruckus by staging a demonstration against corruption at a Karachi thoroughfare on Wednesday.
Snarl-ups at main Shahrah-e-Faisal near the Star Gate, caused by the civil society protests anguished residents who faced much difficulty heading to home from workplace.
The situation compelled authorities to take action, after which Faisal Vawda was detained and taken to Airport police station.
Surprisingly, Vawda’s party also distanced itself from him. Central information secretary, Naeem ul Haq called for ‘stern action’ against the PTI leader. Ali Zaidi also clarified that Vawda’s demonstration had nothing to do with the party saying Vawda was not an office bearer of party.
On the other hand, Vawda, talking to the media expressed that his bail had been approved but he was being punished for raising voice against corruption.
“I am not being allowed to go outside the police station,” he had said, adding that the government was playing games.
