Casualties feared as multiple blasts rock Kabul 

KABUL – Three bomb blasts at two different location ripped through Afghanistan’s capital on Wednesday followed by a gun battle between forces and assailants, the latest in a wave of deadly attacks in the country during recent weeks.

Health ministry officials said that at least six persons were wounded, adding that casualty toll was likely to rise in the latest attacks.

The first blast happened in Dasht-e-Barchi area in Kabul city near Police Headquarters building, Nabjib Danish a spokesman for Interior Ministry said, adding that two back-to-back explosions occurred close to PD10 in Shahr-e-Naw area.

The spokesperson said that security forces were battling gunmen who have occupied the nearby building in both areas.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attacks.

On May 6, at least 14 people were killed and 33 others injured after an explosion at a mosque in eastern Afghanistan.

On April 22, at least 57 people were killed while more than 100 others injured in an explosion in Dasht-e-Barchi in Kabul.

According to the Ministry of Interior Spokesperson Najib Danish, the explosion happened at an ID distribution and voter registration centre.
