Chief Justice Jawwad S Khawaja to retire today

ISLAMABAD (Staff Report) – Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Jawwad S Khawaja is retiring from his post on today (Wednesday).

Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali will take oath as the new Chief Justice of Pakistan tomorrow.

President Mamnoon Hussain will administer the oath at a ceremony at Aiwan-e-Sadr.

The out-going Chief Justice Justice Jawwad S. Khawaja served in the exalted position for just 24 days.

Meanwhile, a full court reference in honour of the outgoing Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Jawwad S Khawaja was held at the Supreme Court in Islamabad today.

The reference was attended by the judges of the apex court.

In his remarks on the occasion, the outgoing Chief Justice called for urgent steps to ensure speedy and inexpensive justice to the people.

He urged all state institutions, judges and lawyers to fulfil their responsibilities in this regard.

Chief Justice designate Anwar Zaheer Jamali lauded the services of Justice Jawwad S Khawaja for rule of law in the country.
