ISLAMABAD – Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday lashed out at lawmakers from South Punjab who recently quit the party on the pretext of making the region into a separate province.
Talking to media at the accountability court about the Monday’s defection of eight party legislators, he said that the outgoing people were never part of the PML-N.

He claimed that the people who left the parties had not voted for him for the election of party president, adding that the party was observing them closely.
He said that such politicians brought a bad name to politics and will vanish from the scene eventually.
Recalling his defeat in Balochistan, the former prime minister said that a party emerged in the province from nowhere and started pulling in politicians.
The former premier also highlighted the issue of forceful disappearance of persons, terming it a serious issue of the country.
Talking to media inside the accountability court hearing corruption cases against him and his family members, the three-time former premier said that making someone disappear was a grave crime.
Highlighting the plight of victims’ families, Sharif said that they did not even know whether their beloved ones are alive or dead.
