ISLAMABAD – The Supreme Court of Pakistan will likely resume the hearing regarding the landmark Panama case on February 15, it has been learnt.
According to sources, a five-member bench of the apex court would resume the hearing after a gap of 14 days.
The apex court was hearing the case on daily basis but due to the illness of Justice Azmat Saeed, the hearing was postponed. Azmat was shifted to hospital following cardiac issues on January 31.
He underwent treatment at a local hospital and is now recovering at a rapid pace.
On Feb 1, Justice Khosa had announced that the bench would take up the case after Justice Saeed recovered from his ailment.
The hearing is likely to continue from February 15 to 16 and will then be adjourned to the next week for day-to-day proceedings.
Counsel for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Naeem Bukhari had already completed his arguments seeking disqualification of premier Nawaz Sharif.
Advocate Salman Akram Raja, the counsel for the prime minister’s sons Hussain and Hassan Nawaz would be resuming his arguments regarding the money trail of Sharif family.
Makhdoom Ali Khan, counsel for Nawaz Sharif has already applied for leave application from February 13 to 24. However his leave was approved conditionally subject to resumption to hearing.
The approval order states that the leave would not be effective if a hearing of the case is scheduled in the meantime.
