Top generals helped Khwaja Saad Rafiq win elections, claims journalist Asad Kharal

ISLAMABAD – A Pakistani journalist spoke out against alleged rigging in general elections of 2013 and revealed that former Army chief and some other people hijacked the results of elections to assist current Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique in winning the polls.

Renowned journalist Asad Kharal making startling revelations in a TV programme alleged that former Chief of Army Staff General (retd) Ashfaq Parvez Kayani and other generals of the army had hijacked the results of general elections.

Kharal claimed that Khawaja Saad Rafique and Nawaz Sharif had spoken over the telephone with Rafique using abusive words stating that they (PTI) had beaten us in elections. Kharal further said that votes of PTI candidate were double or triple than PML-N’s after counting.

Kharal added that, after hearing the disappointing remarks of current Railways minister, Nawaz Sharif replied that there was no need to worry

He added that the then Army chief delayed the results of elections for two hours as the returning officers were barred from releasing any detail.

At 11pm, Kayani conveyed Nawaz Sharif a message of his victory after allegedly rigging the results, he claimed.

He further revealed that Saudi Arabia and John Kerry had informed the chief that they wished to see the Nawaz Sharif as prime minister.

“General (r) Kayani can challenge my views in the court as I am ready to prove them at any forum,” Kharal said.
