At least 20 killed in Bangladesh stampede

DHAKA (Web Desk) – At least 20 people have been killed and over 50 injured in a stampede in Mymensingh town during the distribution of charity (Zakat).

The incident took place at a local factory during the time of sehri, Dhaka Tribune reported.

Witnesses said the factory owner distributes zakat clothes among the deprived people every year. This year, the main gate of the factory had been opened after sehri for the distribution.

They said the incident took place when the huge crowd assembled there tried to enter the gate for zakat.

Police have detained six people, including factory owner Shamin and his son to bring the situation under control.
