Lodhi for greater cultural engagement to counter xenophobia

NEW YORK (Staff Report) – Pakistan’s Ambassador at United Nations Maleeha Lodhi has called for promoting greater engagement across the cultures to counter xenophobia.

Addressing a Pakistani festival in New York, she said the amazing outpouring of art and literature in Pakistan is the most forceful response to a tiny minority that seeks to impose an alien orthodoxy.

She said that we are proud that for the first time a festival of ideas from Pakistan has been taken overseas.

The Ambassador said country’s literary ethos have been going through remarkable change while Pakistan’s culture is about attitudes that value openness and dialogue.
