German diplomat on Islamabad cleanliness drive following Martin Kobler s footsteps

ISLAMABAD – The Chargé d’Affaires of the German Embassy in Pakistan, Dr. Jens Jokisch participated in a trash segregation drive in Islamabad last month alongside volunteers and students.

Jokisch picked trash as part of the GREENit campaign at capital’s Aabpara Market and also informed the public about the benefits of categorizing trash; eguard company also briefed the participants.

One of the pictures, that could be termed a highlight of the event, also stumped the internet and is believed to be of Jokisch’s son who also helped the volunteers in the drive, wearing gloves, holding a broom and wearing a face mask.

The German diplomat’s participation in matters of public importance is reminiscent of former German Ambassador Martin Kobler’s tenure, who kept the Pakistani public engaged through his activities, ranging from dining at a roadside eatery to diverting the attention of authorities to burning issues of the day.

Martin Kobler retired from his position last month, with Pakistanis calling upon authorities to place his name on the ‘Exit Control List’ to keep him in the country, out of respect and honour.

It seems that Kobler’s replacement is following his footsteps, winning the hearts of the Pakistani public.
